Take on the challenge of a lifetime in 2020!

We have an incredible array of events lined up over the coming year, from trekking to running to cycling, there really is something for everyone. Participating in an event is a wonderful way to challenge yourself and also raises awareness of our work at the same time. We are always grateful to those who choose to support us in this way.

ARCTIC ADVENTURE

7th-11th March 2020

The perfect antidote to a cold, wet British winter is a cold, dry Arctic adventure! Away from the crowds, participants will enjoy mesmerisingly peaceful scenes of frozen lakes and snow-covered pine and spruce forests whilst exploring the silent wilderness. The challenge includes snow-shoeing to a remote overnight cabin, with participants pushing themselves to the limits in the harsh but compelling environment, there will also be cross-country skiing and husky-sledding. Staying in traditional log cabins in the woods this promises to be an incredibly beautiful trip, and if participants are lucky they may even see the captivating dance of the Northern Lights as they enjoy a well earned rest in Finnish saunas beneath the night skies.

For this challenge we ask participants to pay a non-refundable registration fee of £249 and then raise a minimum of £2,300 each.

JURASSIC COAST WEEKEND

15th May-17th May 2020

Explore staggeringly stunning England on foot! Stretching 95 miles between Old Harry Rocks in Dorset, to Orcombe Point in East Devon, the Jurassic Coast, England’s first Natural World Heritage Site, is the most geologically diverse coastline in the world. The exposed cliff sections reveal 185 million years of history, and with a more recent history of mining, shipwrecks and smuggling, this is a fascinating stretch of coastline. Taking in some of its most spectacular scenery, from the renowned natural stone archway of Durdle Door to the beautiful circular Lulworth Cove, participants will climb and descend the steep hills of the Jurassic Coast, staying at a lovely campsite a short distance from the route.

For this challenge we ask participants to pay a non-refundable registration fee of £80 and then raise a minimum of £600 each.

PYRENEES FREEDOM TRAIL

7th-14th September 2020

This beautiful and demanding trek in the Pyrenees takes participants from France and over the mountains into Spain. The route follows the Freedom Trail, or Chemin de la Liberté, one of the toughest WW2 escape routes from Nazi-occupied France. Local people risked their lives to help the thousands of allied servicemen and Jewish refugees fleeing to safety, and participants will pass plaques and memorials dedicated to their bravery. The trek is arduous and steep, through spectacular scenery of cirques, rocky ridges, beech forests and mountain lakes. Walking on remote trails, participants will climb 2522m before descending into Spain. This is an incredible trek with a poignant undertone – a personal challenge which also commemorates the bravery of others.
