Amazing Events in 2018
At UCL Hospitals Charitable Foundation we rely on the generosity of our supporters to raise money to fund our projects. Taking part in an event is a wonderful way to not only challenge yourself and realise a personal goal, but also to raise awareness about our work at the same time. We are hugely grateful to all of our supporters who come from all walks of life. From cycle rides to treks to runs, we have something for everybody in 2018, take a look below to see what we have planned.

JURASSIC COAST WEEKEND - 3 DAYS
11th - 13th May 2018 / 6th - 8th September 2018
A 23 mile trekking challenge along part of the South West Coastal Path, tucked away in Dorset. Stretching 95 miles between Old Harry Rocks in Dorset to Orcombe Point in East Devon, the Jurassic Coast - England's first Natural Heritage Site - is the most geologically diverse coastline in the world. This is a fascinating stretch of coastline and you will take in some of its most spectacular scenery, from the renowned natural stone archway of Durdle Door to the beautiful circular Lulworth Cove.
ICELANDIC LAVA TREK - 5 DAYS
4th - 8th July 2018
Iceland is a land of incredible contrast and beauty. Its wild volcanic landscapes, mountains, glaciers, hot springs, geysers and waterfalls, combined with rich history, literature and folklore make it a fascinating country to explore. This trek takes you up to a high pass between two majestic glaciers, taking in the new lava from the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajokull. The trek finishes at the beautiful waterfall of Skogarfoss before returning to Reyjavik, with time left over to explore or visit the famous Blue Lagoon thermal spa.
YORKSHIRE THREE PEAKS WEEKEND - 3 DAYS
13th - 15th July 20108 / 30th August - 1st September 2018
This 24 mile hike across beautiful hilly landscapes is an enormous challenge for even the fittest of walkers. This region was shaped by glaciers many thousands of years ago, and there are plenty of geological landmarks along the way, including striking limestone outcrops and unusual rock formations.
THE VITALITY BRITISH 10K, LONDON
July 2018 -date to be confirmed
A fantastic and fast 10k route around central London past Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Circus, St James's Palace and the Theatre Royal. This 10k is regularly cited by running clubs as the best 10k route in all of England.
PARIS TO NICE CYCLE - 11 DAYS
9th - 19th September 2018
From the Eiffel Tower in Paris you will cycle through rural France to Lake Geneva in Switzerland. From there you will continue through the Alps and Provence, following part of the Historic Route Napoleon as you head south to the sunny Mediterranean city of Nice.
MOUNT KILIMANJARO TREK - 10 DAYS
21st -30th September 2018
Climb the highest freestanding mountain in the world! Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain on the African continent at 5,896 m. Its snow-capped summit rises high above the dusty African plains and huge permanent glaciers flow down from the summit. Push yourself physically and mentally and be rewarded with spectacular views and beautiful ice formations.
THE MARATHON WALK LONDON

A fantastic 26 mile Marathon walk around London! If running is not your thing, this is a great way to explore London on foot at your own pace.
ROYAL PARKS HALF MARATHON, LONDON
October 2018, date to be confirmed.
The Royal Parks Half Marathon is the only one of its kind. The 13.1 mile route weaves its way through London's world famous landmarks on closed roads, and passes through four of London's eight Royal Parks - Hyde Park, Green Park, St James's Park and Kensington Gardens. The atmosphere is always incredible with runners from all walks of life uniting to raise money for charity.
INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU - 10 DAYS
27th October - 5th November 2018
Machu Picchu is one of the most iconic sights in South America, and the culmination of our magnificent Inca Trail trek through the Peruvian Andes. Your route is breaktakingly beautiful through valleys and high passes that are scattered with fascinating Inca ruins. Climbing up through lush cloudforest, the altitude adds to the challenge, and when you finally arrive at the Sun Gate which overlooks Machu Picchu you will be rewarded for your efforts with magical views.
