Raising money for Lungs for Living in memory of Raj Banghar

Raising money for Lungs for Living in memory of Raj Banghar

On the 23rd August 2014, Raj Banghar lost his battle against lung cancer.  Since then his sisters Nicki, Jamna and Jiven, and their parents Shindo and Sardari Banghar, have been raising money for the Lungs for Living project.

Tremendously brave, Raj fought hard until the end, and touched the hearts and minds of everyone around him.  The Banghar family have expressed their gratitude to the specialist lung cancer team at UCLH who supported Raj throughout his treatment, and have described them as 'an extremely compassionate team of professionals who instilled confidence and gave Raj enormous strength in the last 6 months of his life.'

UCL Hospitals Charitable Foundation is working with some of the world's most experienced and respected researchers and clinicians to develop an integrated lung cancer research facility at UCLH.  Encompassing clinical trialists, translational clinical studies and bio-banking, experimental medicine bench work and basic sciences, this research facility will enable researchers to work alongside one another in a world class centre that allows for an unprecedented focus on detecting and treating lung cancer at its earliest stages.

On Sunday 23rd August the Banghar family raised more than £1,300 with a fundraising cushion sale, and in total the Banghars' along with their friends and family have raised more than £6,000 in memory of Raj. They are continuing to fundraise and raise the profile of Lungs for Living.  If you would like to support their fundraising please take a look at their facebook page Raj Banghar Project, you can make a donation by visiting their justgiving page here.

We are very grateful to the Banghar family and their friends and family for their ongoing support and determination whilst dealing with their tragic loss.
